Mickey Mouse is an amusing anthropomorphic cartoon character and the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company. Created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks at the Walt Disney Studios, Mickey is known for his red shorts, large yellow shoes, and white gloves, making him one of the most recognizable characters worldwide. His debut was in a test screening short called “Plane Crazy,” followed by his official debut in “Steamboat Willie” in 1928, which was one of the pioneering sound cartoons at the time.
Mickey has starred in over 130 films, with notable appearances in “The Band Concert” (1935), “Brave Little Tailor” (1938), and “Fantasia” (1940). Although he mainly featured in short films, Mickey also made occasional appearances in full-length movies. Notably, ten of his cartoons were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, and he received the award in 1942 for “Lend a Paw.” In a groundbreaking achievement, Mickey was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1978.
